AT & T announced open iPhone lock into international networks.
AT & T announced open iPhone lock into international networks.
In a statement just released earlier this week, AT & T has said it will begin to open the network and allow the iPhone to use this network into the international version. This is an unprecedented thing for the AT & T iPhone over the past 5 life. However, users do not take the initiative and pay for the iPhone franchise network like many other networks around the world. To be able to move from version to key international networks, users must complete the full 2 year contract with AT & T and asked to switch to the network.
iPhone's AT & T network key has pretty much been in Vietnam.
iPhone's AT & T network key has pretty much been in Vietnam.
This information has caused the attention of the community rather large iPhone users in Vietnam, when the network key version originating from the U.S. presence in Vietnam is quite a lot. However, the current share of the use on forums such as Pure or TouchArcade.com Quantcast , the success of the transformation from the iPhone being locked by AT & T to the international version is not high. Users have direct contact with AT & T by visiting the store, by phone or via e-mail if not in America. The opening of the AT & T network at no charge but contracts come with the iPhone will check for the full monthly payment and is eligible or not. If approved, an e-mail together with the unlock code will be sent to the user by e-mail address registered with AT & T within 72 hours. To check the contract term commitment of iPhone users can access here .
After opening the network, AT & T's iPhone can act as an international version.
After opening the network, AT & T's iPhone can act as an international version.
According to Pham Xuan Vietnamese and technicians specializing in iPhone, though the feasibility is not large but AT & T locked iPhone can open into the international network is important information. In fact, iPhone transfer form from the lock (lock) of the foreign network to be made internationally quite a lot in Vietnam, but it takes all free of charge, not like AT & T. After entering the code into the phone, users can install (restore) the software using iTunes and the iPhone will now become the international version.
When the switch is the international version, iPhone users will be able to completely free to use, software upgrades, and installation of many network sim and not removed as the unlocking by software or use sim transplant . English Vietnamese, said AT & T made unlock all versions from 2G early to 3G, 3G, 4 or 4S, and issues important to users is to find out whether using contracts for 2 years at My machine has done enough or not.

The next iPhone could use A5X CPU, 4-inch screen

Products of this year many changes compared to the parental players, is expected to create a "fever" new

A5X processor.

According to 9to5Mac , Apple is for testing next-generation iPhone in the company. Sources indicated that the prototype product code-named N96, using the new processor based on the structure of A5X S5L8945X.
A5X processors are used on the Apple iPad models launched this year. However, according to news release, A5X is designed for use with tablet Retina screen, so using the iPhone is a bit confusing.Theoretically, if you use this processor chip, the device being tested there will have 1GB of RAM.
Meanwhile, analyst Brian White of companies Topeka Capital Markets market for the iPhone 5, according to his calling, will use the larger screen of previous lives. White said he took over the inside information from Apple about the 6th generation iPhone, after a visit by a supplier of materials technology in China and Taiwan. White believes that the new iPhone will use 4-inch screen, and connect high-speed 4G LTE.
The time of product launch at this point is quite "disorder". Some component supply unit began production in order to launch the iPhone in June this year. However, White advised the Apple customer should not be excited too soon, he said, the product will not be available before May 8 or 9. In addition to White, a senior official of Foxcom (unit production and assembly of products primarily Apple) only confirms your face from October this year.
White also revealed interesting information than the screen size of the new iPhone. He said the iPhone 5 will have a slick new body design, more likely to be the monolithic design, and of course the machine is installed by default IOS 5.1.

Of devices running Android growing rapidly, thanks in part to the huge market of China. In less than a year, the market share of Blue Robot has nearly doubled here. It is unclear exactly how much the machine running Android, but with nearly one billion mobile subscribers in general, customers use Google's operating system can not be a small number.
Analysys International, the survey company in Beijing (China) said that, by the end of 2011, Android smartphones accounted for 68% mobile market share in the most populous country in the world, more than doubled compared with 33 % of the first quarter of the year. The rapid growth of Android has "swallowed" the market share of other mobile operating systems, including IOS, Symbian, BlackBerry ... that these platforms have lost market scene. IOS own rival "heavyweights" of Android at the moment, down from 7% in the second quarter of 2011, to 6% by the end of the fourth quarter.
There are no statistics or specific reports of Google Android devices in China. The reason for this phenomenon by China not to use the Google Android (non-Google Android - NGA), these devices use Baidu's search own country. Every time Google announced the Android using the product, its only Google Android devices without regard to the NGA line above.

iOS 5.1 Upgrade On HSPA+ Claims "4G" Status on iPhone

iPhone 4S owners who installed their iOS 5.1 upgrade may notice something else they weren't expecting: a signal indicator that shows they're now on AT&T's 4G network.

Apple's own release notes for iOS 5.1 in this regard were quite coy: they only say "Updated AT&T network indicator," with nothing specifically about 4G.

The truth is somewhat complex: users who connect to AT&T's HSPA+ network—which is closer to being 3.5G than 4G—will see the 4G icon. Because the connection provides 14.4 Mbps data, Apple calls it 4G, even if it isn't the same 4G LTE offered by Verizon. "4G" is not a technical specification, but a marketing term for the newest generation of mobile data networks.

A precursor to this arose last October, when a leaked internal AT&T memo hinted that the carrier was planning to work hand-in-hand with Apple to provide 4G-like speeds to iPhone users. (This was later confirmed to be correct.)

And at an iPhone event held that month, Apple's senior VP of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, talked about how the new dual-antenna system in the iPhone would allow for better call quality and faster speeds—"up to 14.4 Mbps down," he claimed.

"If you follow the phone industry, these numbers might sound familiar. 5.8 up, 14.4 down ... This [speed] is what the majority of our competitors claim when they talk about 4G performance."

But he went on to sidestep the issue of HSPA+ vs. 4G LTE: "We're not going to get into a debate in the industry what's 4G and what isn't; we leave that for others to talk about."

Apple also released figures claiming the iPhone 4S had twice the downlink speed of the iPhone 4, and speeds comparable to the HTC Inspire 4G and Motorola Atrix 4G. The Inspire is another of AT&T's HSPA+ 4G phones, so any comparison between the two is at least on halfway even footing.

What's less clear, though, is how the HSPA+-enabled 4S stacks up against genuine 4G LTE hardware and networks—which is where the real competition will be, especially as 4G LTE rolls out across a greater range of devices and shows off (among other things) LTE's much lower latency.

iOS also fixes a large number of security vulnerabilities. Click here for the list.

A new, high-definition iPad from Apple

New iPad will be available March 16

Tim Cook introduces new iPad
Robert Galbraith/Reuters
SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) -
Apple rolled out a high-definition iPad on Wednesday with a faster processor, a better camera and a display screen that promises to be dramatically sharper than the current model, the iPad 2.
"It is amazing," Apple CEO Tim Cook said at a San Francisco unveiling. "We've taken it to a whole new level, and we are redefining the category that Apple created with the original iPad."
The new 9.7-inch display screen will feature a "retina display" of 2047 by 1536 pixels, compared with the current model's 1024 by 768 pixels.

To break it down, that's a total of 3.1 million pixels on the display screen.
"Your retina in your eye cannot discern those individual pixels," said Apple Senior Vice President Phil Schiller. "The images on it look stunning."
The new iPad will be available in the United States and 9 other countries March 16 and cost the same as the iPad 2 -- from $499 to $829 based on storage capacity and Wi-Fi capacity. Pre-orders were opened at Apple's online store on Wednesday.
The new version will be available in the U.S. on AT&T and Verizon and will be the first iPad to connect to 4G networks (a fact that, at least for now, remains academic in most cities). It also will go on sale Friday in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
"This new iPad has the most wireless bands of any device that has ever shipped, and it is truly revolutionary," Schiller said.
And the new iPad will be the first to run on 4G wireless networks, a source familiar with the device's specifications told CNNMoney on Wednesday.
It will have a a 5-megapixel camera, representing a significant leap from the current iPad's so-so lens.
Surprisingly, "the new iPad" was as close to a name as Apple gave the gadget Wednesday. Predictions had bounced back and forth between "iPad 3" and "iPad HD" before the event. But the announcement ended without an official name being announced.
Whether that means Apple plans to abandon an iPhone-like naming routine (iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S) in favor of occasional upgrades to "the iPad" remains to be seen.
On Wednesday, Cook also announced an updated version of Apple TV, the company's Web-TV integration device that competes with products like Google TV, Roku and Boxee.
The system supports 1080p, or "Full HD" high-definition video, up from the current model's 720p. It will be available for $99 starting next week and could pave the way for what's expected to be Apple's next project: a fully integrated high-definition television.
"Across the year, you're going to see a lot more of this kind of innovation," Cook teased at the end of Wednesday's event. "We are just getting started."
When the iPad was introduced in early 2010, tablets already existed, but none had become popular with mainstream consumers. Some analysts wondered if there would be a market for a device that falls somewhere between a smartphone and a laptop but doesn't fully replace either.
The answer was a resounding "yes." The company has sold more than 55 million iPads worldwide to date.
Before his death in October, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs predicted that 2011 would be the "year of the copycat" in the tablet space. In large part, it was, and that was bad news for Apple's rivals, as competitors from HP to Samsung to Motorola tried unsuccessfully to offer a viable alternative to the iPad.
The new iPad will arrive in a somewhat trickier landscape.
By going smaller and simpler, Amazon made a splash with its Kindle Fire over the holidays, while rival bookseller Barnes & Noble countered with its popular Nook Tablet. Both devices start at $199. The new Acer Iconia A500 offers more memory than the iPad 2, while other companies have begun flooding the market with devices that are smaller and cheaper than Apple's standard-bearer.
Just last week, Microsoft rolled out its Windows 8 operating system for tablets, suggesting that Windows-based tablets could be making a serious run.
In a move perhaps designed as a shot at these rival upstarts, Cook announced Wednesday that the price on the iPad 2 will be slashed $100. So, a 16GB, Wi-Fi-only model will sell for $399, making it more competitive with the lower-end tablets.
Apple surprised many observers last year when the iPad 2 was priced the same as the original iPad: ranging from $499 to $829, depending on 3G capability and storage capacity.
Cook also announced Wednesday that the 25 billionth app has been downloaded from the App Store. Perhaps significantly, that app was downloaded in China.

Why doesn't the 'new iPad' have a name?

iPad3 features
Robert Galbraith / Reuters
iPad 3 (2012) -- Phil Schiller, senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, speaks about the new iPad's specific features during an Apple event.
SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) -
At the pep rally where Apple debuted its third-generation tablet computer, one question was on everyone's lips: So, what do we call this thing?
The answer, according to an Apple spokesman: "It's just 'iPad.' It's what it is."
Or it is what it isn't. It's not the iPad 3, and it's not the iPad HD. Both names were widely rumored before Apple's coming-out party for the device on Wednesday in San Francisco. It's not New iPad, which is what people on Twitter started calling it during a nearly 90-minute press conference about the device.
The longer Apple execs talked about the tablet computer's new features -- better screen, faster connection -- without actually giving it a name, the more anxious the People of the Internet became.
"Come on Apple, name it already," one person wrote.
"Is it an Anonymous iPad?" asked another.
Tech writer Omar Gallaga: "Screw it, I'm just going to call it 'Lover.' "
At a demo of the device after the press conference, the topic was widely discussed among technology journalists, who were trying to confirm what to call the thing.
"It's the new iPad. What are you talking about?" another Apple spokeswoman said, as if it's common for updated devices to come out with the same names as their predecessors.
Perhaps this naming convention -- sticking with a singular product name without numbers or the names of cats to follow it -- isn't entirely new for Apple. One journalist pointed out that the iPod follows the same tack.
But there still seems to be potential for confusion, especially since the first-generation iPad was just called "iPad" and the next one was called "iPad 2." If someone were selling one of these new iPads on Craigslist next year, what would they call it?
"So this is the 'New iPad,' " said Nick Bilton, a tech writer for The New York Times. "Is the next one going to be called the 'New-New iPad'? Where do they go from there?"
Maybe "iPad 4." That would seem logical if unlikely at this point.
On the other hand, Apple has been through this sort of thing before.
When the first iPad came out, people online were comparing it to a high-tech tampon.
"I don't think it will be a big deal," Ina Fried, a writer for the AllThingsD blog, said of the whole iPad name debate. "If you recall, people didn't like the name iPad when it first came out. They seem to have sold a few of them."
A few million, that is. The company says it has sold 55 million iPads since the device debuted two years ago. When it comes to tablets, Apple's competitors are scrambling to catch up.
It probably would take more than a name snafu to change that.

Nokia announces 808 PureView: Belle OS, 4-inch display, 41-megapixel camera(!) (video)

Remember that Nokia PureView tease from a few days ago? Well, suddenly it all makes sense. We are indeed looking at an imaging flagship phone and a true successor to the N8. It's called the 808 PureView and it's expected to reach Europe in the next quarter for a price of 450 Euros. Before we move on to its craziest feature -- the camera, of course! -- let's run down the other key specs: The OS is Symbian Belle; the engine is a 1.3GHz single-core chip; the display is 4-inches corner to corner but its resolution is a Nokia-style 360 x 640 (nHD). There's 512MB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage that is thankfully expandable via microSD. A Pentaband modem increases the chances of getting a signal while globe-trotting, while data speeds will top out at plain HSPA 14.4Mbps. Now that Carl Zeiss-lensed camera: it handles continuous-focus 1080p, but is claimed to have an incredible resolution of over 41-megapixels when shooting stills -- or 34-megapixels for 16:9 images. It's achieved by some clever sub-pixel interpolation jiggery-pokery that basically entails five pixels being merged into one, but we'll dig deeper very soon. It's expected to arrive in May at a price of €450 and if you're curious, we've got a gallery of beautiful hands-on images and video for your pleasure.

Nokia 808 PureView ushers in a revolution in smartphone imaging

Nokia sets a new industry standard with the first in a range of high end experiences based on exclusive Nokia PureView imaging technologies.

Barcelona, Spain - Nokia today ushered in a new era in high-end smartphone imaging with the Nokia 808 PureView. This is the first smartphone to feature Nokia PureView imaging technologies, bringing together high resolution sensors, exclusive Carl Zeiss optics and Nokia developed algorithms, which will support new high-end imaging experiences for future Nokia products.

The Nokia 808 PureView features a large, high-resolution 41 megapixel sensor with high-performance Carl Zeiss optics and new pixel oversampling technology. At standard resolutions (2/3, 5 and 8 megapixels) this means the ability to zoom without loss of clarity and capture seven pixels of information, condensing into one pixel for the sharpest images imaginable. At high-resolution (38 megapixel maximum) it means the ability to capture an image, then zoom, reframe, crop and resize afterwards to expose previously unseen levels of details. With superior low-light performance and the ability to save in compact file sizes for sharing in email, MMS, and on social networks, the Nokia 808 PureView makes it possible for anyone to capture professional looking images in any conditions.

In addition to superior still imaging technology, the Nokia 808 PureView, also includes full HD 1080p video recording and playback with 4X lossless zoom and the world's first use of Nokia Rich Recording. Rich Recording enables audio recording at CD-like levels of quality, previously only possible with external microphones. The Nokia 808 PureView also features exclusive Dolby Headphone technology, transforming stereo content into a personal surround sound experience over any headphones and Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback.

"Nokia PureView imaging technology sets a new industry standard by whatever measure you use," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president of Nokia Smart Devices. "People will inevitably focus on the 41 megapixel sensor, but the real quantum leap is how the pixels are used to deliver breath-taking image quality at any resolution and the freedom it provides to choose the story you want to tell."

Effort underway to port HARET / Android to Gen 1 Windows Phones

htc-touchhd-haretSome ex-Windows Mobile users may remember HARET as the tool used to enable to booting of Android on the old HTC HD2.
Now an effort is underway to bring the tool to Windows Phone 7.  I think it is safe to say the lead on the project is doing this more as a way to convert a nice Windows Phones to Android, writing:
WP7 is and will be shipped on many devices with quality hardware. In order to be able to run Linux on these, a novel aim is to investigate the use of HaRET on WP7 based devices.
I am sure however that there are a few Windows Phone users who would not mind hacking around with their device to access the full potential of the hardware.
I myself on the other hand would prefer an effort to port Windows Phone to some tasty Android hardware, like the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, with its massive battery and thin form factor. Maybe with Windows Phone 8…
Read more on the effort, which is really still only in the planning phases, at XDA-Developers.com here.

Confirmed: iPad 3 Has a 2048x1536 Retina Display

Over the past couple of months, several photos of displays claimed to be for the iPad 3have surfaced from various sources. Such parts leaks are typical with the device's expected debut early next month. While reports have claimed that these displays are high-resolution "Retina" displays, there has been no definite confirmation of these claims so far.

MacRumors has now been able to obtain one of these iPad 3 displays and examine it under a microscope in an effort to determine whether it is indeed an ultra-high resolution Retina display. Physically, the purported iPad 3 display is the same size as the current iPad 1 and iPad 2 display at 9.7" in diagonal, and looks quite similar to the naked eye.

However, when comparing the iPad 3 display to one from an iPad 2 under a microscope, the difference in resolutions becomes readily apparent, with the iPad 3 display's pixels appearing to be one-quarter the size of those on the iPad 2.

Since we only had a raw iPad 3 display with no method to power it, taking high quality photos of the pixels was difficult. Still, even with the relatively poor lighting, you can easily make out the pixels on each display (made up of red, green and blue elements). We highlighted a cluster of 4 pixels (2x2) from the iPad 2 to compare it to the same area on the iPad 3. On the iPad 3, the same cluster was occupied by 16 pixels (4x4) -- exactly twice the resolution in each direction.

Extrapolating out, the iPad 3 screen should carry a full resolution of 2048x1536, exactly twice the linear resolution of the iPad 1 and iPad 2 which is 1024x768. Such a screen should be able to display much sharper images as compared to the previous generation iPads.

While these iPad 3 screens weren't directly sourced from Apple, they are labeled as OEM replacement parts for the iPad 3 and are apparently in mass production. The difficulties of any 3rd party in mass producing 2048x1536 9.7" Retina displays make us quite confident that these represent legitimate iPad 3 parts.introduce the iPad with a media event on March 7, and the device is rumored to be carrying this high-resolution display, a new A6 system-on-a-chip, and LTE support for models with cellular data capabilities.

Nokia N9 Ice Cream Sandwich port in progress

Much as we begrudge Nokia their wring (not to mention stubborn, deluded and more than a little incestuous) decision to go with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform for their current generation of smartpohnes, it’s hard to deny that their hardware and industrial design is top-notch. Home Android developer Alexey Roslykov seems to agree, as he’s been instrumental in porting Android to Nokia’s underground favorite the N900. Now he’s on to something a little more modern, in terms of both hardware and software: getting a full-fledged Ice Cream Sandwich port running on Nokia’s drool-worthy N9. The developer tweeted out the phot below with the simple desciption, “Progress“.

For those in need of a brief refresher: the N9 was to be Nokia’s saving grace for the smartphone world, the first device to run the MeeGo OS created by a collaboration between Nokia and Intel. As a showpiece for the next-generation OS, the N9 was well-received by reviewers, if not consumers (pricing started at around $650 equivalent) when it launched in fall 2011. Even at launch the N9 was something of a lame duck as far as competition goes: it came out more than six months after Nokia CEO Stephen Elop (a former Microsoft executive) announced his intention to switch the company’s smartphones to Windows Phone 7. By the way, almost exactly a year later, Windows Phone 7′s world market share stands at less than 2%.
Not much information on the status of the port is available, but if the overlapping lock screen, home screen and Ice Cream Sandwich widgets are any indication, it’s very slow going indeed. Even so, an apparent associate of Roslyakov notes that the software is running in a dual-boot configuration, presumably keeping the MeeGo OS intact. As a mid/late 2011 top of the line smartphone with a 1Ghz OMAP processor and a gigabyte of RAM, the hardware itself should be more than capable of running the latest version of Android; it’s just a matter of getting the correct drivers, software configuration and permissions going. It should be noted that a fully-functional Android port on the N9 may or may not be possible.

iOS 5 Jailbreak announced

Please using :

  • redsn0w 0.9.9b4 for Mac
  • redsn0w 0.9.9b4 for Windows

  • iPad 3 will be released the first week of March !

John Paczkowski of AllThingsD claims that Apple will introduce the iPad 3 event to be held the first week of March.
Specifically, the newspaper says the event will be held in San Francisco, probably the most classic Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Unfortunately, it is not a release date of the device, but judging from past iPad 3 will be in stores one a.m. to two a.m. weeks after the announcement.

    iPad 3 release date

Sources say the company has chosen the first week in March to debut the successor to the iPad 2 and will do so at one of its trademark special events. The event will be held in San Francisco, presumably at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple’s preferred location for big announcements like these. No word yet on a street date for the iPad 3 (assuming that’s what it’s called), though my guess is retail availability will follow roughly the same schedule as that of the iPad 2: available for purchase a week or so after the event. If I had to guess on a date we would say that likely is the March 7, Wednesday.
Finally, the newspaper reports that the iPad 3 will have a Retina display high-resolution 2048 × 1536 pixels and much faster processor with upgraded graphics. The latest rumors to the iPad 3 has four processor cores but TheVerge publication of reports that the device will continue with a dual core processor.

    Nokia Lumia Coffee Tab tablet

One great thing about concepts would be this – you, as the designer, are not bound to the limitations of the physical and design aspects in the real world, but instead, you can let your imagination run free. The Lumia Coffee Tab tablet that was recently unearthed could very well point towards a future tablet device from the Finnish smartphone company. Right now, Nokia does not have any tablet in the market, but with the advent of Windows 8, things might change eventually. I for one, would like to see Nokia play a greater role in the smartphone and tablet markets after being “revived” by making Windows Phone as their operating system of choice. Just what does the Lumia Coffee Tab tablet concept hold?

For starters, there is a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM, a choice of internal memory that starts from 16GB and goes all the way to 64GB, a 9.7″ AMOLED clearback display at 1,280 × 800 resolution, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back, while a 2-megapixel shooter is located in front for video calls, rounded off by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. Since Windows 8 tablet edition is its operating system of choice, you know for sure this going to be worth looking at when it arrives.

The camera isn’t in the middle but in the top left corner (so not impeded I guess when held in landscape with two hands). I’m not sure if those buttons are hardware or appear with the Windows 8 swipe. There’s even a nice picture below where its set in natural surroundings.

    • Lumia “coffee” tab
    • 1.4GHz cpu
    • 512Mb ram
    • 16/32/64Gb storage
    • 9.7″ AMOLED “clearblack” display (1280×800)
    • 8Mp Rear camera, 2Mp front facing camera
    • Windows 8 tablet edition
    • Wifi/3G connectivity

How to fix T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant GPS Issues (Easy)

    samsung-vibrant-front-small
We’ve received various reports that the GPS on the Samsung Vibrant is broken out of the box. Locking on to a GPS signal can take can take a while, if it does at all, and the location can be rather inaccurate at that. The folks at XDA-Developers have figured out a quick fix that won’t require doing any serious modifications to your phone’s software. Samsung says they are working on an update proper to fix the GPS issues with the phone, but for now just follow these instructions to get yours acting the way it should.
    1. Navigate to Settings > Location & Security and uncheck the box next to “Use Wireless Networks.”
    2. Go to the phone’s dialer and enter the number *#*#1472365#*#* then press send to access the phones LBSTestMode menu.
    3. In the LBSTestMode menu, press “Application Settings” and change “Operation Mode” to “MS Based.”
    4. Navigate to the “SUP/LCP Settings” and the SERVER & PORT to supl.google.com (make sure NOT to place “www.” in front) and port 7276.
    5. Make sure the settings are saved and reboot your phone.
    6. Navigate back to Settings > Location & Security and check the box next to “Use Wireless Networks.”
    GalaxySLBsTestMode
And that should do it. This fix is also confirmed to work on the Samsung Captivate, but attempting to replicate this on the international Galaxy S I had no luck. If the fix doesn’t seem to work for you and you’d like to reset to your old setting repeate the same process but use the following information at the LBSTestMode menu:
    • Operation Mode: Standalone
    • SERVER: www.spirent-lcs.com
    • PORT: 7275
If all else fails, you may just have to wait for an update to be issued for the fix, but hopefully this will set your wayfaring GPS straight.

How to Update Samsung Galaxy Vibrant with Android 4.0 ICS Firmware

news : Install Android 4.0.3 for samsung galaxy S t959 vibrant using CM9 ALPHA (BUILD 16B)

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is said to be the best version of Android. If you have already toyed around with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, for sure you gave it a thumb up because of ICS. What more can you ask for? You have great hardware and feature-rich ICS — a perfect combination.
The sad thing about this though is that we get to drool over the Galaxy Nexus, but many of us are not yet ready to buy it because we still have our existing Android smartphones. Our only hope right now is for the makers of our existing smartphones to release an ICS update so we can have a taste of what the buzz is all about.
When it comes to “hopeless” situations like this, our trusty Android community of developers would always come to the rescue. We all know how brilliant these people are, and we’ve already benefited from their works. And, indeed, they are doing some work with Ice Cream Sandwich right now.
One of the solid proofs of their hardwork is the ICS custom ROM that can be installed on the Samsung Galaxy Vibrant. It is not yet perfect, but it is a work in progress which seems to hold a lot of promise. So, if you have a Samsung Galaxy Vibrant, you can taste ICS by following the instructions below.

    Things You Need

    • A PC running Windows Vista or Windows 7
    • A fully charged Samsung Galaxy Vibrant
    • Root access on the Galaxy Vibrant
    • Backup of your phone data, in case you encounter issues

Steps in Installing Ice Cream Sandwich

    1. Download the following three files to your computer:
      1. ICS custom ROM for the Galaxy Vibrant. You can get it

      1. here.
      2. Galaxy Vibrant kernel. You can get it here.
      3. Superuser app, which you can get from here.
    1. After downloading the files, copy all three into the root directory of the Vibrant’s SD card. Do not rename or modify the files. You’ll need to connect your device to your computer via a USB cable so that you can copy the files.
    2. Reboot the device into recovery mode. You can do this by turning off the device and while it’s off, press and hold down the Volume Down key and the OK button. While both buttons are pressed and held down, press the Power button.
    3. In recovery mode, you need to do two things: “Wipe data/factory reset” and “Wipe Cache partition”. To scroll to these options, you just have to use the volume rocker and to select an item, use the Power button.
    4. Thereafter, select “Install zip from sdcard”, then select “Choose zip from sdcard,” then navigate to the directory where you save the downloaded ZIP files, and then pick ICS_4.0.3_r1-RC2.11-i9000.zip. This will start flashing the ZIP file to your phone. Flash the other two files (ICS-RC2.1-i9000-Glitch.zip and Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip — in that order) in the same manner described in this step.
    5. The flashing process will take some time, so be a little bit patient.
    6. After all three files have been flashed, reboot your device.
Congratulations! Your Samsung Galaxy Vibrant now runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware, which ought to reinvigorate your phone and give you bragging rights. What is it like to use ICS on your Galaxy Vibrant?
